Augill Castle: A truly unique & special place

Enjoy England Awards Guest Accommodation of the Year 2009

Augill Castle may be unlike anywhere you have ever stayed before. A unique place to stay where anything goes except hushed tones and false formality. It's like staying with friends in the north with a castle.

"Augill combines the decor of a boutique hotel with the laid back atmosphere of a house party"

                                                     The Sunday Times, April 2009

Built in 1837 for 'a gentleman of considerable means and leisure' to entertain his weekend guests, Wendy & Simon Bennett now run the castle in a modern and informal style with relaxed service, five star national award winning guest accommodation, exceptional food and a genuine desire to create a comfortable place to unwind.

With accommodation in eleven very different bedrooms, five grand reception rooms and fifteen acres of gardens and grounds, there is space at the castle to relax, be part of it all or tuck yourself away. It is a castle for everyone and a castle for all seasons.

A country house happiest when it is full, our unique quirky castle in Cumbria's aptly named Eden valley is perfect whether you are on your own, as a family or part of an intimate small wedding, laid back house party, family gathering or informal business meeting.

Weddings and house parties have become an important part of what goes on at Augill Castle and the new kitchen has been designed to accommodate the increasingly popular Augill Castle Little Cooks children's cookery school, bringing life and vitality to the place.

But when all is said and done, whether you come by yourself, with friends or family or to celebrate, this is a very special place to switch off, leave the world behind at the top of the castle drive and do nothing at all or explore the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales or unspoilt Eden Valley or lose yourself in some high adrenaline activity.
